My name is James Newcomb.

I started the MusicPreneur.Com podcast and business because it's a combination of two passions of mine: music and commerce.

They're both incredibly powerful forces that can be used for good or not so good purposes.

My mission is to help musicians discover the good in both music and commerce in order to create music that reflects their true self and generate revenue to not only take care of themselves and those who depend on them for sustenance, but to build real wealth. That is what moves society in a forward direction.

I live in Virginia Beach, VA. Not just the city, but on the beach! 126 steps from the ocean to be exact.

I've lived a life that is nothing short of interesting. After leaving a four year stint in the U.S. Army, where I was employed as a trumpet player (I discussed it recently on the podcast) I attended and graduated from a small Bible college near Tacoma, WA.

After graduating, I began my first entrepreneurial endeavor: a window and gutter cleaning business. This is where I got my first taste of what you could call "freedom." It was grueling work, but in the end far better than working for "the man."

In 2008, I decided it was time to take music more seriously. After realizing how expensive the orchestra audition circuit is, I again enlisted in the Army and was stationed in KY, GA, NC and Seoul, Korea. In fact, I began my first podcast titled Outside the Music Box while stationed in Seoul in March, 2015!

Outside of the Army, I've played in orchestras and ensembles, and performed solo concerts all over the world.

These days, my podcast is my instrument. It's how I express myself and believe me when I say I like to tinker with it!
